Jim Halpert can kick ass. I’m sorry that he will always be Jim Halpert to me, but I can’t help it. I watch everything he does. Remember the romcom where he told Snow White that he’s more the drink vino and watch British miniseries kind of guy? I totally bought that and it’s still the person I picture, even when he’s chasing terrorists across Turkey.

This is the kind of TV show that my dad would have watched. Jack Ryan is his kind of guy. A simple philosophy of people that hurt women and children should be taken down and the good guys win the day. I watched it because it was the first show on Prime I learned how to load and I immediately lost the Alexa remote once it started so I binge-watched the entire show.

It held my interest and I realized I love watching Jim Halpert/Jack Ryan running across the globe chasing the bad guy. I especially love the banter between him and his boss James Greer (played by Wendell Pierce). Watching them fight like an old married couple after very intense scenes brings it all back to center and calms my nerves.

I really thought Jack would end up falling in love with the terrorists’s wife, but I guess that was too far-fetched even though I felt more chemistry between them than the doctor he was dating. I fully expect them to head to Russia in season 2 and I want to see a new love interest when we get there.

As for the story this season, I felt bad for the brothers, but shit, sometimes you have to let it go. Two Lebanese brothers that lost their entire family during the 1983 bombings grow up to start a militia group that targets the US. They managed to get Ebola into the US and up, close and personal with our President through a series of events that I can’t summarize because I barely passed 10th grade chemistry, but it was clever and nearly killed us all.

I like Jim Jack in these moments. When I sit back and think about it. If we just have one person out there in the middle of the night fighting the big bads that they don’t tell us about so we can sleep better at night, I want Jim Jack to be that guy. He has all of the training needed to take care of the military stuff, but at his heart he’s Jim Halpert. I trust the heart of Jim Halpert more than any of those action heros to make the right decision for America. Jim Jack will make the right choices and so will you if you decide to binge-watch this show over a weekend.
